Carlisle City’s new boss Dan Kirkup is closing in on two signings over the weekend, and looking to take a third on loan from Carlisle United.
Kirkup is preparing his side to face Heaton Stannington this afternoon and one of his targets might be with his squad as a trialist.
He said: “I’m hoping he will be with us today as a trialist and on Sunday I hope to have a second new player tied up. I have also been speaking to Carlisle United about the possibility of bringing a third on loan.
“It will be a tough game against Heaton Stannington as they are a very good, well organised side and probably a step-up from what we saw from Workington on Tuesday.
“I’m looking for us to step-up on what we showed against Workington, but we are trying to play a little bit different this season and it will take time to adapt.
“We have played Heaton Stannington for the last six years and one of my best friends in football Dean Nicholson is their manager.
“We were promoted together from Division Two when we were champions and now they have moved out of Division One into the NPL and I am sure they will do well.”
City lost three players to Gretna during the summer – Jack Dickinson, Sam Atkinson and Jordan Holt – while Jordan {Palmer linked-up with Kendal Town a fortnight ago.
