Whitehaven Seconds have reached their first ever Marsden Cup final where they will play Hawcoat Park at Millom on August 18.
After defeating their Furness counterparts in the previous round The Griffins travelled to league newcomers Wetherall in the semi-final.
The North Cumbrian side have made an impressive start to life in the Cumbria League and probably started the game as favourites, however after inviting Haven to bat and they promptly regretted the decision.
Sixteen-year-old Haven batsman Kian Larmour scored his maiden century for the club. Larmour, who alongside club-mate Lewis Keeler has been selected for the County Under 23 development squad, has been in a rich vein of form.
He was ably supported by skipper Adam McGarry (41 not out) along with a supply of 36 extras in a total of 235.
Wetherall have posted several scores of well over 200 this year but were never in the hunt as Haven’s ‘Silver Fox’ Steve Rumney returned 5-18 from his nine overs.
He was well supported by Andrew Cameron (2-8) as Tom DeGelder and Sam Garroway also picked up wickets. Andy Oliver, with 33, made the only score of note for Wetheral in a total of 109 all out.
