Over £3,000 has been raised in three days to help Wigton Rugby Club install new floodlights.
The club launched an online crowdfunding campaign on Saturday to help it raise £12,000 for the project to install new floodlights on their training pitch.
It has already successfully raised £72,000 through grant funding from UKSPF, SportEngland, Joyce Wilkinson Foundation, CCL and Thomas Grahams.
The new floodlights will significantly improve training sessions and enable the club to extend their playing hours, benefiting both senior and junior teams alike, it said.
Ryan Dobson is managing the project and said he was confident about the positive impact this project will have on the entire Wigton RUFC community.
Alystair Miller, club chairman and the Wigton Wildcats Ladies Rugby team coach, expressed his thanks for the generous grant funding received this far and encouraged the community to rally behind the crowdfunding campaign
Alystair said he believed that the new floodlights will not only enhance the playing experience but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the club.
David Warwick, the senior men’s coach, said he was excited about the potential of the new floodlights to enable winter evening training sessions and create a more competitive environment for the players as well as having a positive impact on the team’s performance.
