Whitehaven have announced the loan signing of Neil Tchamambe from Hull Kingston Rovers on an initial two-week deal.
Following the potential long term loss of Edene Gebbie with an hamstring injury the coaching staff have worked hard to bring in an replacement with the England Academy international available for the club’s next two Championship fixtures away to Swinton and Sheffield.
Head coach Jonty Gorley said: “When Hull KR took AJ Wallace back they offered us Neil as a replacement and with the numbers I’ve got available especially with losing Gebbie for a spell on the sidelines, I jumped at the chance to bring in Neil.
“He’s definitely an athlete standing at around 6ft 5in and he can travel a bit as well. After speaking with Shaun Kenny-Dowall about Neil, he says he’s a good carrier out of back field and finishes well too.”
The club can also announce the extension of the loan deals of Lennie Ellis and Noah High. Having joined Haven on an initial two-week deal, hooker Ellis will remain with the club for a further two weeks having made two appearances in the last two fixtures against Featherstone and Toulouse.
#High will remain with the club for the remainder of the 2024 campaign. The Cumbrian back rower scored two tries on his debut in victory over Dewsbury last month and will now remain with the club for the rest of the season.
Gorley added: “All at the club would like to thank Hull KR and Warrington for their co-operation in these deals.”
