Wild on the Wall was born from one man’s desire to give back to a county he has grown to love so much.
Taking place this weekend from July 26 to 28 in Brampton, the event is much more than a simple music festival as the team behind it put their heart and souls into it.
Dan Russell hasn’t received funding of any sorts over the last five years for the event, but he has delved into his own pockets to shine a light on the next generation of musicians.
A musician himself, Dan knows what it means to the local youngsters to step up and be given an opportunity to perform at the next level, and this is exactly what Wild on The Wall is all about.
Dan is well known in Carlisle for his live music venue the Source Collective, which is where the idea for Wild on the Wall was conceived.
Dan said: “Whilst being involved with the Source we have had the pleasure of coming together with some fantastic local creatives and musicians. Wild on the Wall really is a divine celebration of the talent and musical diversity we have here in this beautiful county as well as a celebration of life and joy.”
Before Wild on the Wall was created, it began as a few musicians using the land that Dan obtained to jam and play together. Dan decided he wanted to open it up to the public and “make it a proper party for everybody.”

Dan said: “This is my way of giving back to the people of Cumbria. I have been lucky enough to have made my home here and love it. I wanted to create an event where people could come together, heal, and be happy. Music is a wonderful medicine. We only have one life, come together and celebrate the beauty of it with us!”
This year, expect sets from bands from afar and of course lots of local talent who will be bringing down the house with gusto and passion. Acts include Colt 45, The Shambolics, Funke and the Two Tone Baby, plus lots more.
There will also be a huge variety of stalls, workshops and more. This year, the Emporium from Carlisle will be attending and will bring a range of workshops for both adults and children, including messy play activities!
A new addition to this year’s event is Prowild Survival.
ProWild Survival are outdoor enthusiasts who have put together their skills and qualifications to create fun and safe survival experiences for everyone, no matter their age or capability.
At Wild on the Wall, they will offer a woodland respite space where festival goers can relax by the fire or join in with some of the workshops they will be holding where they will teach a range of outdoor skills.
Emma, from the Enchanted Tea Cup, returns this year bringing some zen to the festival, with Reiki, meditation, workshops, tarot and tea leaf readings, sound baths and cake.
You can rest assured that you won’t go thirsty with a fully stocked bar with some fantastic beers, spirits, wines, and various soft drinks.
There’s plenty to keep festival-goers fuelled up throughout the weekend, with food vendors including Tipsy Tapas, Hillbillys Noodle Bar, Jim’s Burger Van and Splitscreen Coffee.
Wild on the Wall is a family event where everyone is welcome – including dogs!
