Drivers are urged to avoid a section of the A591 near Kendal.
Police were called at around 1.35pm today, Wednesday, August 14, to a two-vehicle collision at the Plumgarths roundabout.
The collision involved a car and a van.
One person was taken to hospital following the collision.
Significant tailbacks have built up – and police have asked drivers to seek alternative routes if possible.
