There are just three games in the county this weekend – but dates have been arranged for County Cup fixtures.
Carlisle, champions of the Counties 1 Cumbria League last season, entertain Wigton who are likely to be favourites to win it this time with the main competition expected to come from relegated Cockermouth.
Wigton had a good warm-up game last week against Annan which they won 46-21 and it will be interesting to see how Carlisle perform as they prepare for a step up in playing level.
Young Archie Harding will be the man in the middle with the whistle for this one at Warwick Road.
A Penrith XV are playing Dumfries at Winters Park with Simon Barker officiating while Windermere entertain out-of-county visitors Buxton. Martin Maughan takes charge.
Two of the County Cup ties, which are effectively quarter finals, have been arranged.
Carlisle will host Upper Eden on Friday, August 30 while the Kendal v Aspatria tie will be played on Saturday, October 5.
