It’s a double weekend which could go a long way to settling the championship and relegation issues in the Cumbria League’s Premier Division.
With key games on Saturday and on Bank Holiday Monday, it will leave only three games before both are decided after the final fixtures on September 14.
The big one is on Monday when champions Carlisle entertain Cockermouth which is a must win contest for the Sandair side who trail their rivals by 16 points.
Before then Carlisle face a tricky trip to Millom who have revived under a free-scoring professional Nathan Waterston and some promising youngsters.
Cockermouth will fancy their chances of recovering from last week’s defeat at Keswick when they entertain Cleator. But the villagers will be travelling to Sandair on the back of a win over Workington, which completed a double for the season.
Keswick could also hold the key to the title if Cockermouth can win at Carlisle. They host Carlisle in the final game of the season, having already won at Edenside.
The problem with Keswick is traditionally they are weaker at the end of the season due to rugby and football calls.
At the foot of the table it seems to be between Egremont and Haverigg, although Workington still have to look anxiously over their shoulders.
On Saturday Egremont entertain Dalton while Haverigg entertain Whitehaven and on Monday it’s Furness v Haverigg and Millom v Egremont.
Egremont currently have nine points on Haverigg while Workington are a further four points better off than the Gillfoot side.
Workington do have two home games over the weekend – against Furness and then Wigton.
Other games: Saturday – Wigton v Keswick. Monday – Cleator v Whitehaven; Keswick v Dalton.
