Despite the wet weather on Wednesday evening, the Cumberland County League clubs were involved in their first midweek fixtures of the season and once again provided plenty of goals.

In the Premier Division Cockermouth were big winners against Aspatria beating them 10-2. Luke Graham grabbed four of those goals with Louis Pickering, Rob Cox, Ben Rathbone, Dan Dobson and Sam Wright with a brace proving the other goals.

Richard Hudson and Harry Creighton were on the scoresheet for Aspatria.

Champions Maryport Athletic claimed a 5-1 victory against Keswick with goals from Ethan Weir (2), Ciaran Laverty, Alec Little and Logan Bosward.

Alfie West scored for newly-promoted Keswick who are finding it tough so far in the top flight having lost 4-0 to Wigton Harriers on the opening day.

But the Harriers couldn’t follow-up as they went down 2-0 to Unison Athletic who won with goals from Ellis Dickinson and Tom Hill.

Whitehaven Miners social against Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves was postponed.

In Division One, a hat-trick from James-Lee Reynolds and Charlie Thomson with a brace helped Unisun Athletic Youth Development team to a 5-1 victory over Silloth whose goal came from Adam Steel.

Bransty Rangers followed up Saturday’s win with another three points on the board by overcoming Mirehouse 3-1. Rylan Templeton, Harvey Law and Brandon Tauber were the ones who found the net for Bransty with Cyran Corlett providing the goal for Mirehouse.

Dearham United and Cockermouth Reserves were involved in a 2-2 draw. Jack Brown and Brandon Brown scored for Dearham with Joey Briers and Dan Graham netting for Cockermouth.
