People are asked to share their views about opportunities and support for all carers in Westmorland and Furness.
The local authority is undertaking a review into day opportunities – services that can can provide a break and support for all carers, including unpaid carers, ensuring they can continue to offer ongoing care.
The services help people’s health and wellbeing and provide the opportunity to take part in interests and activities, meeting with friends, develop relationships, participate in work, education and recreation.
They are also important in supporting people with disabilities, people experiencing mental health problems and older people to maintain and develop new skills, prevent social isolation and support inclusion in the community. Typically, these services currently run on weekdays, usually between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
An online questionnaire is available to complete until Monday September 30.
The council is asking for feedback about what works well, travel to day services and suggestions for new activities.
The questionnaire is part of a larger project gathering the views of service users, day opportunity providers, councillors and other organisations within this sector.
