Penrith went out of the FA Cup last month to a penalty in added time for Crook Town.
So there was some degree of extra satisfaction that the Bonnyblues took the three League points last night with a goal four minutes from the end.
Robbie Hebson, who had gone close earlier in the game with a fine strike, was the match-winner to round off a battling performance by Darren Edmondson’s side who were short of a number of regulars.
Connor Hammill had put in a shot which the Crook keeper kept out with a brilliant save. But he couldn’t gather in and Hebson was there quickly to provide the finish.
They had lost at high-flying Redcar on Saturday with 11 absentees and quite a number of those were still missing for the confrontation with Crook.
The visitors have been one of the surprise teams so far, currently occupying fifth place in the table, but they were never able to impose themselves as such on their hosts.
The win moved Penrith back up to eighth after their recent dip and on Saturday they have another home game against Newcastle Blue Star who are six places and four points behind them.
