Penrith went out of the FA Vase, beaten at home 2-1 by Padiham after they had taken the lead.
Matty Coombe had given them the lead on 24 minutes with a stunning strike from 25 yards but but just over ten minutes later the visitors were level through Joel Melia.
The North West Counties Premier Division side won it with a goal from Jakob Hebda 10 minutes into the second-half.
Penrith, had gone into the game with 11 members of the first team squad missing, largely through injuries and suspensions.
A number of players from the reserves were asked to step up and sample the first team environment which will do them good in the long run.
But they just didn’t have the ammunition to hurt Padiham where it mattered and the visitors were able to see it through for the win.
Penrith now have a week’s break before travelling to Blyth Town next Saturday, hoping that several of their missing players will be back for then.
