The bomb squad was called in after explosives were found at an abandoned property in Ulverston.
South Lakes Police said: “Yesterday neighbourhood officers attended an abandoned property in Ulverston following reports of youths breaking into the address.
“Upon searching the premises, which had been empty for nearly 20 years, explosive products were located left by the previous occupant.
“Ulverston officers enlisted the assistance of the army to dispose of these products.”
