You have the chance to be a named character in a novel by crime author MW Craven.
He has donated the prize as part of a draw to help raise funds for Scotby Village Hall, near Carlisle.
The international bestselling author spent his first months as a baby in Scotby, where his family lived.
Funds raised from the draw will help pay for ongoing renovations of the hall, which hosts a range of activities for villagers, from Pilates to children’s groups.
A new committee took over two years ago, and in 2023, the kitchen was refurbished. However, earlier this year, it was found that the roof needed immediate repairs.
The team won several grants and raised a good level of money through events, enabling works to start in the summer. The new roof has now been installed, electric panels have been put in place and the hall has been fully plastered.
The committee said: “There is still much work to be done to bring the main room up to modern standards: painting, joinery, lighting, soft furnishings. All the plans are in place, just a bit more cash is needed to go ahead. The money raised from MW Craven’s draw will be welcome and well spent.
“It will support the ongoing renovations of this much-loved building, ensuring it is here for generations to come.”

Tickets are £10 each and people may buy as many as they like. The draw will take place on Saturday, October 19, where the author will choose the winner at random.
