
Tate Zischke is set for a return to native action next month at his home track in Brisbane.
Zischke’s season ended early after a crash at Belle Vue and while he was recovering it was announced that he would be returning to the Comets in 2025.
The meeting on November 16 is the East Coast Solo Masters and will include Premier League star Ryan Douglas and former Comet Josh Grajczonek.
Zischke made a big impression on his first season in the UK and had been signed by Belle Vue to ride in their Premier League side.
A a protégé of former Australian star Darcy Ward he came to prominence when he won the New South Wales Under-21 championship in 2022 and the bronze medal in the Australian Solo Championship the same year.
In 2023, he rode in the U24 Ekstraliga in Poland for Unia Leszno before signing for the Comets in the British leagues for the 2024 season.
In the accident on his Belle Vue debut he suffered serious injuries in a crash, fracturing seven vertebrae and five ribs on July 1.
Zischke will have been helped by the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund which has once again benefitted from the track collections held around the country during the season just completed.
This year’s total is £24,381.89p, slightly down on last season due to the loss of four tracks (though a higher average per track).
Highest contributors for the third year running were Ipswich with £2,386.61. The Witches will receive their award at the WSRA at the annual gala dinner and awards night on November 9.
Championship clubs Berwick, Edinburgh and Glasgow were the next three highest contributors.
The collection at Workington’s Northside track raised £919.22p.
