Celebrate Paddington Day this weekend!

Sunday has been named Paddington Day and it is the perfect opportunity to visit the bear from Peru in Penrith.

From John o’Groats to Land’s End, identical statues of the famous bear have been installed on 20 benches ahead of a new film, Paddington in Peru, set to be released in cinemas on November 8.

Paul & Joanne Cain

Penrith – near the home of the World Famous Marmalade Awards at Dalemain, where Paddington is a regular visitor – is the only Cumbrian location chosen to host a Paddington bench.

Geraldine & Hollie

Joan Pollard was delighted to visit Paddington this week. A superfan, she says she has a huge collection – with a room devoted to the bear. She said: “Should anyone know how I could acquire this one, I would be thrilled – I have 2,000-plus so another would be amazing!”

Alice Murphy & Raymond Pearson

And fans will get a sneak peek of the new movie if they see Paddington or Paddington 2 at Carlisle’s Vue Cinema on Sunday.

Pauline & Adele Rogers

Paddington-lovers will also receive an eco-friendly wristband with their ticket to take home as a keepsake.
