Ryan Barker helped Cons Club to a 5-0 win.

Workington Conservative Club delivered a 5-0 clean sweep against Workington’s Veterans Club B to set their stall out just two games into the new L& L Property Contractors Snooker League season.

The home team dominated from the start, with Alan Moore kicking things off by defeating Wayne Sinclair with a score of 66-19.

Cons’ Julian Plaza followed with a similarly strong performance, overcoming Lewis Straughton 66-20 before David Holland then secured another win for the Conservative Club, beating Adam Hodgson 59-19 to make it 3-0.

The match’s fourth frame saw Ryan Barker defeat Vets B captain Jordan Ferguson 64-41, and to add more pain to an already wounded away side Brian Kendall rounded-off the victory in style with a 49-27 win over Simon Tootle.

Workington’s United Club A put in a strong home performance this week, defeating current champions and fellow Division One side Workington Golf Club, 4-1.

Golf Club captain Mark Brasted proved victorious over Dave Chapman 54-11 to give the golfers their only win, but United Club A quickly turned the match around.

Tony Hindmoor won a closely contested frame against Golf A’s Simon Fraser, 56-46, followed by United A’s Clive Lister beating Lewis Tilley 60-46.

Peter O’Hagan dominated Mark Cowan winning 75-8 to put the United Club A 3-1 up, and Andrew Mitchelhill produced a captain’s performance to seal the match victory with a 69-10 victory over Golf A’s Phil Sorfleet.

In the all-Division Two clash Workington’s United Club B secured a convincing 4-1 away win over Maryport Social.

Maryport’s Ben Scott fought hard in the first frame but was defeated 52-42 by Stephen Harrison.

Andrew Sharp responded for the Social side with a 65-32 victory over Richard Kirkham, but United Club B controlled the remaining frames.

Andrew Scott defeated Adam Sowden 52-33, and United B captain Stephen Jackson produced a break of 39 in his 62-8 win over Gary Miller, who conceded with four reds left on the table. Greg Todd was defeated 48-18 by Andrew Carter to close out the match.

Workington’s Station Road Club showcased their strength with a 4-1 away victory over Workington Veterans Club A in the battle of the Division One outfits.

The match began with Station Road’s Tom Thompson defeating Mark Tunstall 61-37, followed by Chris Hunter’s narrow win over Vets A’s Paul Smith, 48-32.

Mark Robertson extended Station Road’s lead to 3-0 by beating Mark Tatton 55-21 and despite Vets A’s best efforts in the next John Teasdale won 54-46 to make it 4-0.

However, Vets A captain Kevin Basnett gave Veterans Club A a small boost with an 80-30 victory over Darren Lawson, including breaks of 30 and 35, in the last frame of the match to nick a point.
