Barrow slipped to 12th in League Two as AFC Wimbledon won 3-1 at Holker Street to leapfrog their hosts into 10th.
The visitors hadn’t won on the road since August so this was a welcome three points and came via two goals in as many minutes from Matty Stevens.
His goals came in the 76th and 77th minutes to take him to ten for the season, a good return since his move from Forest Green.
The first one was simply a poked finish after he latched onto Joe Pigott’s flick on and with Barrow still wondering what had happened he struck again. Again it was from close range after some good play by Josh Neufville.
It’s been a dismal run for Barrow as six games without a win has seen them slide down the table from joint top to mid-table.
The Dons had gone into the game without two key players, midfielder Myles Hippolyte and striker Omar Bugiel, who were away on international duty with Grenada and Lebanon respectively.
But they were given a flying start on just two minutes when Pigott pounced on a weak back header from Bluebirds skipper Niall Canavan and was able to steer the ball past keeper Paul Farman.
James Tilley brought the best out of Farman with a stinging shot from distance and then had a goal disallowed for a foul in the box when he thought he’d scored direct from a corner.
Barrow got back on terms in the 44th minute as a result of a goalkeeping error from Owen Goodman. His goal-kick was under-hit and went straight to Andy Dallas who did well, despite being challenged by a defender to shoot home from the edge of the area.
Both goalkeepers made decent saves in the second-half to keep it at 1-1 until Stevens popped-up with his quick fire brace to win it for the visitors.
