The Great North Air Ambulance was called out after a man suffered a suspected medical episode at the wheel.
Police were alerted to the incident at around 8.30am in Newbiggin, near Penrith, by the North West Ambulance Service.
A male driver in his 60s was in need of medical attention.
A temporary road closure was in place but lifted at around 10.40am.
