A66 closed to high sided vehicles

The A66 is closed in both directions between Penrith and Scotch Corner to high sided and vulnerable vehicles.

National Highways said it was due to strong winds as a weather warning has been issued for today, New Year’s Eve, by the Met Office.

Road users wishing to travel across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as the A69, it said.
