Cumbria police said they had received several reports about a multiple-vehicle collision on a Lake District pass.
Wrynose Pass was closed to traffic yesterday due to icy conditions.
Police said they had received the calls at around 1pm onwards today.
The road is currently blocked, and people are asked to avoid the area.
Police added: “There is a lot of ice and snow on this road and we are looking to close the road off.”
Eden Police said they were called to help occupants of six vehicles on Wrynose Pass.
Cold Fell, Birker Fell, Hardknott Pass, Newlands Pass and Hardknott Pass have also been closed to traffic due to the icy conditions.
