A man has been jailed for five years and given an indefinite restraining order after assaulting a woman.
Adam Bromley, 43, of Main Road, High Harrington, who was found guilty at an earlier hearing, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today.
The court heard that on July 1 2024 police received a report that Bromley was assaulting a woman at an address on Salterbeck Road, Workington.
The report was from someone who had been called by the victim and could hear the assault on the phone.
Before officers got to the address Bromley had fled but was arrested back at the property.
The victim suffered a broken wrist on her left arm and broken forearm on her right arm.
Detective Constable Lisa Baker, of Cumberland CID, said: “Bromley subjected the victim to a serious assault resulting in two breaks to her arms.
“The assault was also heard by someone close to the victim who quickly contacted police.
“Bromley had no remorse for his actions or the injuries he caused to the victim.
“It is understandably difficult for victims of abuse to talk about what happened to them; the victim rightly reached out to someone who reported the incident on her behalf.
“Any reports we receive will be taken seriously and will be dealt with professionally and sensitively.
“The constabulary works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.
“These offences will not be tolerated by Cumbria Constabulary, and we will do everything within our power to hold them accountable for their actions and bring them to justice.
“I would encourage anyone who has been victim to a domestic offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate. You will be supported throughout our investigation.”
