A Cumbrian photographer managed to get the snap he’d been after for 15 days.
Paul Grindley, of Brampton, said he’d been up before dawn to try and catch a partial lunar eclipse, but managed to get a photo of a partial solar eclipse at a more civilised hour yesterday, Saturday March 29.
He said: “Unfortunately grey, cloudy and overcast are not the perfect conditions for photographing ta partial solar eclipse, but my persistence paid off and about 11am, roughly seven minutes before maximum coverage, the clouds parted for only a few seconds.

“It isn’t the greatest shot in the world but in the circumstances I am absolutely delighted with it.”

He used a ultra violet filter.
