With the lighter nights after the clocks went back, midweek football returned on Wednesday evening in the Cumberland County League.

In the League Cup 1, Dearham United got a 7-2 victory against Bransty Rangers thanks to goals from Brandon Brown (3), Danny Dryden (2), Alfie Green, Matthew Heaney. Chris Armstrong and Stewart O’Pray were both on the scoresheet for Bransty.

Windscale Reserves and Whitehaven AFC Reserves met in the League Cup 2 with this tie ending 2-2.

Dylan McAlone and Leo Brennan both netted for Windscale with Whitehaven goals coming from Tom Martin and Robbie Watson.

Tonight will see the first bit of silverware up for grabs in the Cumberland County League when Keswick and Maryport Athletic  meet up in the Conway Cup Final.

For Maryport, this is the first of a possible five trophies still available for them to win but Keswick will be making sure that they’ll take the cup back to the Lake District with them.

The match is being played at Borough Park, Workington today, Friday April 4, with a 7pm kick. Admission is £3 of adults and £1 for children.

Saturday fixtures, 2pm kick offs:

Ken Glover Memorial Cup

  • Wigton Harriers v Cockermouth

League 1 Cup Group Stage

  • Workington Juniors v Mirehouse

League 2 Cup Group Stage

  • Cockermouth Reserves v Unisun Athletic Youth Development
  • Silloth v Windscale Reserves
  • Whitehaven AFC Reserves v Whitehaven Miners Social Development
