
Eden Housing Association has appointed two new members to its board.
Paul Vines and Sue Powell have joined the social landlord’s management board.
Paul brings experience in the legal field, technology, financial services, data protection and governance, while Sue brings experience from the social housing sector, policy and strategy.
Sue has worked in the social housing sector for 40 years. She started her career in front line service provision, Sue then took on policy and strategic roles, firstly with the Northern Housing Consortium and then the North West Housing Forum, representing local authorities and housing providers on the former Regional Housing Board and lobbying Government for changes to legislation and funding.
She now runs her own business, offering a bespoke consultancy and interim service.
Sue has worked in the Eden Valley on a number of occasions in interim roles for the local authority and is a former non-executive director at The Riverside Group.
Paul Is a qualified solicitor with 20-plus years experience and in practice in the City of London.
Most recently, he was general counsel and secretary at Cumberland Building Society.
Douglas Ross, association chair, said: “We are delighted that Paul and Sue have joined our board.
“With them they bring a wealth of knowledge, working experience and life skills, which will complement the quality and expertise we already have on our board.
“We are fortunate that we can attract members who are willing to give up their valuable time to try and improve the housing situation of others.”
The association has also recently appointed Guy Johnson to the permanent role of director of finance and corporate resources, which completes the executive team, alongside chief executive Chris Fawcett, and director of operations Jenny Everingham.
Douglas added: “It’s a strong team at the association and we’re all committed to delivering for tenants and the local community.
“We’ll continue to focus on being a good landlord, by maintaining the existing homes to a good standard and delivering much needed new homes.”
Eden Housing Association was established in 1997 following the voluntary transfer of the housing stock from the then Eden District Council.
It manages homes across Cumbria. It owns and/or manage around 1,833 homes for affordable rent or sale and manages six schemes in Penrith, Shap, Appleby, Carlisle and Kirkby Stephen, the latter two with extra care facilities.
