Bill Dixon, owner of Racquet Club 24 hands over the keys to Paul Johnston, head of programming, CRFM West, at Racquet Club 24, Workington.

Community radio station CRFM West has revealed the location of its new West Cumbrian studios.

It has teamed up with Racquet Club 24 in Workington and will base its studios in its premises.

Racquet Club 24, opposite Dunmail Park, is Cumbria’s only 24-hour indoor padel tennis centre.

It will also become the home of CRFM West’s headquarters and studios and the station has signed a multi-year lease.

CRFM West is an extension of CRFM in Carlisle.

Darrell Thomas, station director, said: “This has been a major investment and a real labour of love, but we’re confident CRFM West will become a trusted voice and vital platform for the local community.”

Paul Johnston, head of programming for CRFM West, added: “Now that our studio build has started, we can look forward to bringing live, local, community-focused radio back to the people of West Cumbria.”

The studios are currently under construction.
