Cleator have missed out on a prestigious national award after making the final shortlist of five.
The clubs, from across the country, had been recognised for their work serving the rural communities where they play and were shortlisted for the 2025 Village Cup Community Legends Award.
South Wales cricket club Pentyrch won the award for their commitment to the community they represent.
The Community Legends competition is open to contestants in the annual Voneus Village Cup, which is organised by The Cricketer magazine.
Also shortlisted for this year’s award along with Cleator were Loddington and Mawsley, Matching Green and Wrea Green, with the judges commending the work they undertake in their respective communities.
In the National Village Cup on Sunday, Cleator lost a dramatic tie by one run to Stayley after the Cheshire visitors had made 100 and then bowled out their hosts for 99 off the final ball of the game
