Workington Town have announced the signing of Max Clarke from the French Elite League 1 for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Clarke, who is equally at home in the centre and second row position was highly sought after for Jonty Gorley.
Gorley said: “I tried to sign Max in September, but he chose to sun himself in France.”
Max who is a native of Essex was first spotted by Mike Eccles in the London Broncos set up before playing an array of championships games with Barrow Raiders, Doncaster, and Toulouse Olympique across a successful few seasons in the second division.
Clarke said: “I am really happy to be here, and I believe the club is more than capable of reaching their promotion goal.”
Having played for Barrow Raiders, Clarke is no stranger to a majority of the squad with him playing against the likes of Guy Graham and Lucas Castle while donning the blue and white of Barrow with Rio Corkill.
Clarke has moved into the area for the season and will stay with the overseas contingent of Town players.
Although not available this weekend Clarke is in contention to play against Whitehaven at the Recreation Ground next week.
However, it has also been revealed that Jake Bradley will be out for the season due to an ankle injury sustained a few months ago.
