A Lake District inn has been put on the market for £1.5 million.
The Sun Inn in Coniston is being sold as its current owners plan to retire.
It is being sold by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
Dating back to the 16th century, The Sun Inn boasts original features including stone walls, oak beams and a bar made from local slate.
The business comprises a free-of-tie pub and restaurant, with purpose-built dining room and The Boat Room games and entertainment space.
There are eight en suite bedrooms and a detached staff and owner’s accommodation building with six en suite bedrooms included in the sale.

The pub serves over 240 covers and offers a large beer garden and customer car park.
The Sun Inn was previously known as The Rising Sun and The Huntsman and once catered for travellers passing along the old trade routes to the west coast ports.

The inn was also used as a location for the 1988 film Across The Lake starring Anthony Hopkins.

Marslie McGregor, business agent at Christie & Co, is managing the sale and said: “The renowned Sun Inn is an exciting opportunity which would suit an owner-operator but also a management team, therefore appealing to local, regional and even national multi-site operators.

“The sale presents a brilliant opportunity to acquire a long-established business, and we expect high levels of interest.”
