Two games in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL have provided a taster for the weekend.
Both games were in the First Division and produced comfortable victories for both Kells A and Distington A.
Kells made the short trip to Egremont to play the Gillfoot A team and returned home with a 54-10 victory.
Dan Grears was the top contributor for Kells with five tries while Ross Gainford kicked seven goals.
The other tries came from Jamie Jennings (2), Daniel Starkie, Jamie Reay and Blaine Graham.
For Egremont there were tries from Sam Dixon and Kaiden Block with one converted by Block.
In the other games Distington A were 40-18 winners at Maryport A.
The Distington tries were scored by Deaton Askew, Callum Fox, Daniel Park, Brad Milligan, Robbie Joe Worthington, Bailey Worthington and Alfie Penaluna. Fox kicked six goals.
All the Maryport points were scored by Lewis Moore with a hat-trick of tries and three goals.
Moore is an interesting addition to the rugby league ranks at Maryport.
He was regarded by former Workington Reds manager Danny Grainger as one of the most exciting young prospects he had at the club, so he appears to be equally at home with the oval-shaped ball.
There’s one Division One game tonight at Hensingham where the club’s A team entertain Aspatria.
Tomorrow three Premier Division games should provide some interesting contests.
Top of the bill should be the clash at the Athletic Ground where leaders Maryport entertain top four hopefuls Cockermouth.
Seaton missed out on a chance to go joint top last week when they lost at Wath Brow A.
They plan to get back on track tomorrow when they entertain Lowca.
Reigning champions Wath Brow A travel to take on an improved Flimby side.
