The top two in the Cumbria League’s Premier Division go head-to-head tomorrow.
Leaders Furness take their three-point lead to Sandair to take on a Cockermouth side cock-a-hoop after last week’s Higson Cup triumph.
But it will be a different Cockermouth side tomorrow.
Professional Shrikant Mundhe has returned home and the club does not have a sub pro booked.
In addition the experienced Gareth White, man of the match in the Higson Cup final win over Millom, is on a family holiday.
Both sides will have four games left after tomorrow so it isn’t exactly a title decider but could be a significant marker on how the race is going to play out.
Keswick are five behind Cockermouth, so eight adrift of Furness and they suffered a severe blow when they lost to Millom last week.
But they will still feel they are in with a shout as they have to play both their rivals – Furness (away) and Cockermouth (home) in the last two games of the season.
Remaining fixtures for the big three are as follows:
- Furness – Cockermouth (a), Wigton (h), Dalton (a), Keswick (h), Cleator (a).
- Cockermouth – Furness (h), Egremont (a), Workington (a), Dalton (h), Keswick (a).
- Keswick – Whitehaven (h), Cleator (a), Egremont (h), Furness (a), Cockermouth (h).
Everyone’s hope will be that the outcome is not affected by the weather hindering one side more than another.
The other games tomorrow are: Dalton v Millom, Keswick v Whitehaven, Wigton v Cleator, Workington v Egremont.
