
Kendal Town moved second in the Northern League table with an emphatic 4-1 win last night in the Cumbrian derby at Carlisle City.
It was a convincing performance by Matt Flynn’s side as they have now won every game since losing the opener against Newcastle Benfield.
The victory at Gillford Park moved them to second in the table, two points behind leaders Whitley Bay with a game in hand.
After the latest round of mid-week games the three Cumbrian sides in Division One are all in the top seven.

Penrith were 6-0 winners at home to Thornaby, producing a splendid performance to register their first win of the campaign.
At Gillford Park it took only seven minutes for Kendal to take the lead when Tom Kilifin cashed in on a handling error by home keeper Scott Simons.

James Bailey doubled the advantage on 29 minutes after another defensive error before City were given a lifeline after 37 minutes when Callum Birdsall pulled one back.

But three minutes into the second half Kendal had restored their two goal advantage with a second from Kilifin.

To compound City’s misery they had Tom Mahone sent off after 80 minutes as Kendal saw out the game comfortably and added a fourth goal in time added on through Josh Winder.
