Whitehaven picked up their first point of the season last night in the county derby at Millom.
It was a stubborn performance by the West Cumbrians who were on the back foot for much of the game which finished 1-1.
“I was pleased with the points if not the performance, given the number of players we had missing,” said Whitehaven manager Jon Karl Benson.
They had started the better and took the lead after 18 minutes through Owen Woodburn.
They held the advantage for 15 minutes before Ben McDonald equalised for the home side.

It was McDonald’s fourth goal of the season and he has scored in every match.
Although Millom dominated the rest of the game they couldn’t find a second goal but stayed fourth in the table.
Whitehaven are still next to bottom but have played all three games away from home.

Milnthorpe Corinthians are still at the foot of the table losing 1-0 at home last night to Blackpool Wren Rovers.
Ric Seear scored the only goal of the game in the 2nd minute.
After three away defeats it was the first home game of the season for Corinthians.
