Jason Dempsey continues winning run

Jason Dempsey continued his winning run in the Midweek Members club with another impressive performance.

The club raced from Charnock Richard and it was another clean sweep for the Maryport fancier.

Its been a remarkable turnaround for him after a really worrying training toss before the season started.

He had over 50 and they were returning for days after being liberated early morning from Sellafield.

But the experience seems to have done them good as in nine races (Saturdays and midweek) he has lost only two birds.

Sadly this is going to be Jason’s last season as he has been advised to pack in because of a health issue.

While Jason was an emphatic open winner, the south section went to veteran Billy Cottier, still flying a good pigeon at 93 years of age as he took first and second.

The birds were liberated at 4.45pm in a light southwest wind with excellent conditions at Charnock Richard.

Jason had 16 drop together just after 6.45pm after an 80-mile flight, covered at 40mph.

Club official Peter Bewsher said: “We were a bit late because of traffic but we will take that on board going forward.

“Thanks again to convoyer John McNichol and race controller Gary Holliday for doing a great job.”

MIDWEEK MEMBERS CLUB (6 SENT 178): Open – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,6, J. Dempsey 1180.4, 1180.4, 1180.2, 1180.2, 1180.1, 1180.1.
