A police appeal has been launched after an unreported crash put other drivers at risk.
Eden Police was called to Hartside Pass to the scene of an unreported crash, where a metal post was left sticking out of a hairpin bend – in a position where officers said it could have ‘impaled’ another road user.
The crash involved a white VW Gold which also destroyed a fence and allowed cows to get onto the road.
A police spokesperson said: “Not only is not reporting a damage RTC an offence, but your selfish actions have put other road users lives at risk.
“Although you removed the VRM plate from your front bumper, left at the scene, be aware that you forgot about the part serial numbers.
“Please reflect on this while we conduct further enquiries to identify your vehicle.”
Anyone with any further information is asked to call 101 and quote Log 77 of 19th August.
