A 1-0 win at Wealdstone dented the home side’s 100 per cent record and maintained Carlisle’s unbeaten start to life in the National League.
So it’s two away wins and two home draws so far to put them seventh in the latest table.
But it won’t have gone un-noticed that the top five are all ex-League clubs, currently headed by Robbie Savage’s Forest Green.
All are as keen, if not keener than Carlisle, after various lengths of time out of the EFL.
Match winner for the Blues was the hard-working Luke Armstrong who headed the only goal of the game after 19 minutes.
He got in at the near post to head home an Archie Davies corner.
Wealdstone had a good chance to draw level ten minutes later but Deon Woodman powered a header over the bar.
In a game of few chances Woodman did have another chance midway through the second half, but Gabe Breeze produced the save of the game to keep it out.
United still have to meet any of the big-hitters above them but will be looking to gain that elusive first home win on Monday against Braintree who have won two and lost two and are directly below the Blues in eighth place.
Braintree beat Yeovil 1-0 at home yesterday.
