Wath Brow Hornets host match of the weekend tonight in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL (ko 7pm).
The reigning champions currently lie third in the League’s Premier Division, two points behind leaders Maryport.
Crucially they have only one game left after tonight but Maryport will have two more in their quest to finish top of the pile.
Hornets A team have not been the dominant force they were last season as first team calls have had an impact.
But that is one of the purposes of an A team, if not the main one, and is an indication the structure in a club is working.
Maryport had threatened to be a force this year under the driving influence of coach Mark Foster.
Seaton Rangers are also in the mix, also two points behind Maryport but from the same number of games.
They will be interested observers tonight aa they don’t play until tomorrow afternoon when they have Flimby as visitors (ko 2.30pm).
Flimby currently occupy the final top four place but both Lowca and Cockermouth Titans are also in contention.
Cockermouth are also in action tomorrow at home to Glasson Rangers (ko 2.30pm).
Unfortunately tonight’s Division One game between Distington A and Hensingham A has been postponed as the home club cannot get a team.
