Police officers stopped 50 vehicles and made one arrest as part of an operation to target anti-social driving in Workington.
Officers from the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team and Operational Support set up in two locations in the town yesterday, September 1, to check for speeding vehicles and carry out safety checks.
A 25-year-old man, from Workington, was arrested on Salterbeck Road on suspicion of drug-driving. He has been released under investigation, police said.
Four traffic offence reports were recorded, five drug wipes conducted and five breath tests carried out.
Sergeant Neil McKinnell, of Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Road safety is a priority for our communities, and this operation is part of our ongoing efforts to target those putting others at risk on our roads.
“Off-road bikes and e-scooters are not toys and can cause serious harm, we would encourage anyone using these to ensure they meet legal requirement and have protective safety equipment.
“Targeting drink and drug drivers and anti-social driving is not just for officers, but something we can all be active about reporting dangerous drivers putting the lives of road users at risk.”
“If you have any concerns about someone committing an offence please report it to us.”
It is part of the 15-week Operation Colossus targeting anti-social driving across the county.
