Workington made comfortable progress in the FA Youth Cup when they beat Penrith 7-1 at Borough Park.
They had the county derby wrapped up at half-time when they led 6-1.
The young Reds will have another home tie in the next round against Spennymoor.
Match star for the winners was 17-year-old Alfie McDonough who went home with the match ball after scoring a hat-trick.
McDonagh is also a talented golfer and can make progress in both sports.
It was a powerful display from the young Reds who clearly have some promisimng young players in the squad.
Being so well ahead at half-time it gave the management team the opportunity to give their substitutes a taste of the prestigious competition.
It was McDonough who had scored the opener, tapping home the loose ball after Penrith keeper Lucas Thompson had only been able to turn aside a free kick from Jayden Fulton.
It was Fulton who provided a cross for the second goal which was headed home by Joe Carney.
Jamie Parkin then had the misfortune to concede an accidental, if spectacular own goal before Luke Mason hammered home a very good opener for Penrith to reduce the deficit to 3-1.
In the final 12 minutes of the half the young Reds took the game away from the Bonnyblues by scoring three more goals.
McDonough’s second was a low shot which cannoned in off a post; Kelvin Amor produced a tidy finish after a good assist from TJ Cueto and the sixth goal came from Cueto with a clever spot that Thompson had come too far off his line and he drilled a shot over him.
Penrith showed more tenacity and better organisation in the second half and Reds, making changes, knew the job was done.
It was four minutes from the end when they did score the seventh. A glorious pass from Amor released McDonough and he went on to complete his hat-trick.
