A Lake District walker had to be rescued after he fell 32ft and ended up wedged in undergrowth.
The older man was at Station Scar Wood near the Claife Viewing Station on the west shore of Windermere yesterday, September 7.
He had slipped off the path and fell around 32ft, sustaining facial and shoulder injuries. He ended up being wedged between the path and some trees in dense undergrowth.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by Cumbria police.
The team said: “We sent two Land Rovers to scene where the casualty was in a very awkward position. Two team members abseiled down to the casualty.
“Our remote rescue medical technician carried out an assessment and confirmed immobilisation was required, the gentleman was placed in a full body vacuum splint and carefully evacuated on a stretcher.
“A request for a land ambulance was made, backed up with a further request for an air ambulance if feasible.
“Unfortunately despite their best efforts the Great North Air Ambulance crew had to abort their attempt due to poor weather.
“The casualty was handed over to the North West Ambulance Service crew for the onward trip to the Lancaster Royal Infirmary.”
