The Cumberland County League was hit by the harsh weather on Saturday with two games having to be abandoned.
The Premier Division game between Mirehouse and Unisun Athletic was called off after 46 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch. The Carlisle side had been leading 3-1.
In Division One it was a similar story at Dearham for the game with Silloth and they didn’t even start the second-half because of the amount of standing water on the pitch.
Aspatria’s scheduled home clash with Cockermouth had to be called off beforehand because of a waterlogged pitch and attempts to switch to Cockermouth floundered because that pitch was also not fit for play.
Champions Maryport Athletic continued their winning start to the season, beating the Premier Division’s bottom side Cleator Moor Celtic reserves.
It finished 4-0 with two goals in each half. Joe Hetherington, Ethan Weir and Aaron Hoad-Williams found the net and Athletic also had the help of an own goal.
Also in the Premier, Whitehaven Miners Social were 5-2 winners against Workington Juniors after scoring four without reply in the first half.
Ben Graham (2), Nathan Walkinshaw, Bradley O’Pray and Alex Parr were the Miners scorers with Harry Watson and Jay Connor replying for the Reds.
Of the four games played in Division One, three were clear-cut results but the fourth was settled by a single goal.
Ben Smith scored the only goal of the game as Northbank beat Whitehaven reserves in Carlisle.
Cockermouth reserves were 6-1 winners at Bransty as Troy Paterson (2), Ewan Harrison, Ben Wright, Nathan Kemp and Luke Bewsher-Cannon were on target. Spike Canavan netted for Bransty.
In a clash of two Development sides Whitehaven Miners beat Unisun Athletic 5-0 with goals from Braydon Walmsley (3), Ryan O’Neil and Kyle Newberry.
Windscale reserves were the other comfortable winners in Division One, beating Carlisle City Development 7-1.
Alfie Buckmaster scored the City consolation but Windscale won well with goals from Luke Elliot (3), Bobby Fitzpatrick, Kieran Fraser, Jack Harrison and Scott Wilson.
