A special game for Stevie Scholey’s testimonial year has been announced at the Fibrus Community Stadium.

Scholey, the Workington captain, will lead a Town Select against an Invitation X111 from the Community game on Friday, November 7 (ko 6.30pm).

Invitations have been sent out to players from across the various clubs who compete in Cumberland ARL.

Peter Gilmour, chairman of Cumberland ARL said: “I think it shows the respect that Stevie commands in the amateur game that after he sent out the invitations lads answered very quickly.

“He has given great service to Maryport during his amateur days, and then to Workington Town so we are expecting good support for this game.”

Although Scholey, 35, played mainly for Maryport, he did have spells with the other two clubs in the town – Glasson as a youth player and Ellenborough.

Numerous events have been staged during the year with the one-off game in November the showpiece event.

Tickets on the night will be £10 but there is an early bird offer of £7 up to the night before. All under-16s, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free.

The teams are expected to be announced soon.
