Bad weather affects Cumberland County League games

Weather badly affected the Cumberland County League programme on Saturday.

Only two games went ahead and both were in the Conway Cup competition.

Whitehaven Miners were comfortable 10-0 winners at home to the Unisun Development side.

It was only 2-0 at half-time before an avalanche of second-half goals carried Miners through to a big win.

Caleb Parr (3), Owen Woods (2), Nathan Walkingshaw (2), Jamie Thursby, Ryan Doran and Alex Parr scored the goals.

Certainly not as clear-cut but Cockermouth won well at Silloth with two goals in each half.

Oscar Pickering, Kyran Bertram, Nick Wood and Sam Wright scored the goals.

Saturday’s fixtures

  • Premier Division: Cockermouth v Unisun Athletic; Keswick v Cleator Moor Celtic reserves; Wigton Harriers v Maryport Athletic; Workington Juniors v Aspatria.
  • Division One: Bransty Rangers v Carlisle City Development; Dearham United v Miners Social Development; Northbank v Windscale reserves; Silloth v Whitehaven reserves;  Unisun Athletic Development v Cockermouth reserves.
