Welsh international Max Clarke has accepted a deal for 2026 with Keighley Cougars.
The 26-year-old Clarke had joined Workington Town on a short term contract in July and went on to play four times for the West Cumbrians.
He joined Town from the French Elite League 1 after playing there during the summer.
Equally at home in the centre and second row position, Clarke had been highly sought after by Town coach Jonty Gorley.
Gorley said at the time: “I tried to sign Max in September, but he chose to sun himself in France.”
Max who is a native of Essex was first spotted by Mike Eccles in the London Broncos set up before playing an array of championships games with Barrow Raiders, Doncaster, and Toulouse Olympique across a successful few seasons in the second division.
Having played for Barrow Raiders in the 2024 season Clarke was no stranger to a majority of the squad with him playing against the likes of Guy Graham and Lucas Castle while donning the blue and white of Barrow alongside Rio Corkill.
Clarke had moved into the area for the last few weeks of the season and stayed with the overseas contingent of Town players.
It is understood that Town wanted to retain Clarke’s services but he has opted for a change of scenery with Keighley.
