Workington Comets star Antti Vuolas shone for Finland last night in the second semi-final of the Speedway of Nations tournament.
He scored 15 points out of Finland’s total of 18 points as they finished sixth of the seven competing nations.
Only five riders scored more points than the Workington rider.
Vuolas had six rides which saw him win one, and have one second and four thirds.
Former Comet Tero Aarnio only had one ride without scoring while Jesse Mustonen won once in five outings but didn’t score in any of the others.
Australia won with 41 points from Denmark (37) and the Czech Republic (27) third after a race-off with Ukraine (32).
Great Britain, with Dan Bewley starring in Tuesday’s semi-final, are in tonight’s final.
