An emergency road closure has been put in place in Whitehaven.
Wasdale Close has been closed for United Utilities to carry out a sewer repair.
The firm said it was a routine repair and despite a notice from the council warning of public health issues, there was no danger to public health.
Contractors from United Utilities are on site and the emergency road closure could be in place for up to 21 days, although it is anticipated that workers will only have to be on site for eight days.
The road is closed from Wasdale Close from its junction with Latrigg Road extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of around 20 metres.
