An Aspatria allotment site is on lockdown after several birds were found dead.
Experts from the Animal Plant and Health Agency are currently carrying out tests at the Lawson Street allotments.
Aspatria Town Council said it had been reported that several bird on different plots had died over the last week.
For the next seven days at least no one is allowed on the allotment site.
The town council added: “We will have designated people who will have a licence to go on and feed the birds. Only these people with a licence are to enter the site.
“The tests are being sent away with results coming back by Monday morning. My team of designated licensees and I will be in talks later to try and get access to plots to feed the birds.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience but we have to follow advice from Animal Plant and Health Agency.”
