
Northside won the big West Cumberland Sunday League clash at Wakefield Road against reigning champions Deer Orchard.
It finished 2-0 to the previous title winners who look nailed on to regain their crown.
This was their ninth straight win in as many games and they lead the Premier Division table by 14 points.
Tommy Whitehead just can’t stop scoring at the moment. He had bagged all five for Workington Juniors the day before and against Orchard he notched both.
It was even tighter at Thornhill where the home side lost to Dearham Commercial 2-1.
Callum Casson and Aaron Lister scored the Dearham goals with Nathan Dryden netting for Thornhill.
In the third Premier Division clash The Sun were 5-1 winners at Lowca Pirates.
Luke Knowles (2), Keenan Mackay, Dan Hill and Hayden Whittingham scored for The Sun with Owen Woodburn responding for Lowca.
Senhouse Street Club continued their winning run in Division One when they beat Swan 4-1.
Gary O’Driscoll (2), Ollie Arkless and an opponent made up the Senhouse tally.
Maryport Amateurs lost second spot when they crashed 7-3 at Mirehouse.
Ryan O’Neil (4), Kian Sim (2) and Kyle Bayliff were the goal-scorers for the Whitehaven side.
Lewis Moore, Frankie Addison and Keelan Graham netted for Maryport.
Sun Inn moved second after a 3-0 win at home to Royal Oak.
Ewan Trestianu, Kris Nichol and Shay Johnston scored the goals.
In a tight game King’s Arms edged past Workington Falcons 2-1 with goals by Kieran Fraser and Jack Fitzpatrick.
Equally tight for Zebras who put a check on Sun Inn Athletic’s progress with a 2-1 win.
Harvey Shimmings and Dan Little were the goal-scorers with David Ousby replying for the Aspatria visitors.
