Country & Western fans raised £2,000 for a Lake District mountain rescue team at a charity hoedown organised by a financial management company.
FMB Financial Planning, based in Kendal and Cockermouth, organised the event at the Ibis Sports and Social Club in Kendal on October 10.
It was the latest in a series of activities the company has organised to support Kendal Mountain Rescue Team over the last year.
Eighty people joined staff from FMB and country band Gravel and Gunn for an evening of dancing and activities including panning for gold, bull horn hoopla and a bran tub – all with prizes sponsored by local businesses.
The event raised almost £2,000 bringing the total fundraising by FMB this year to £4,000.
Next month FMB is also helping Kendal Mountain Rescue prepare for November’s Kendal Mountain Festival by tidying up and cleaning its base at Busher Walk, which is used as a venue for the festival.
FMB managing director Liz Beavis said: “It has been a pleasure supporting Kendal Mountain Rescue this year, we have learned so much about the hard work and commitment it takes to make it run smoothly, all with volunteers. You never know when you and your family might need their help.”
FMB has a strong tradition of supporting community groups over the years, including South Lakes Hydrotherapy, South Lakes Carers and Springfield Domestic Violence Support.
