An investigation has been launched after a bus caught fire while travelling on a West Cumbrian road.
Emergency services were called out yesterday afternoon, Thursday October 24, to the A595 Distington bypass.
The Stagecoach double-decker, which was not in service at the time, was involved in the incident near Parton.
Three fire crews tackled the blaze and the road was closed for some time.
A spokesman for Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire said: “The bus was out of service at the time and no passengers were on board.
“An internal investigation is under way to establish the cause, and we are liaising closely with Cumbria police.”
